Learn about the treatment

Rhytidectomy is a plastic surgery performed on the face, which promotes what is called a facelift, helping to improve several areas that are flaccid.

It is very suitable for those who have the following situations:

  • Areas such as the cheeks, eyes and neck with some sagging.
  • Many wrinkles and expression marks, and even folds in different regions of the face.
  • Neck with some accumulated fat.
  • They have a very thin face.

The intention of rhytidectomy is to improve face items. Therefore, it increases self-esteem and new notions of beauty for patients who perform it.

Bearing in mind that carrying out the intervention will consider several factors. That is, the patient’s health, desires, and how the area to be operated is doing.

How is it done?

Now that you know what rhytidectomy is, let’s explain better how the surgical procedure actually takes place.

The preoperative period consists of carrying out several consultations. In other words, clinical and laboratory tests, in order to certify the patient’s health conditions and effectively plan the procedure.

In planning, what can be done in the area is analyzed in comparison with what the patient would like to adjust. It’s always important to respect the limits of your own body!

The surgery is performed in a properly equipped surgical site, and it can be performed only with general anesthesia. It lasts between 3 to 4 hours, depending on what you want to improve on your face.

After the surgery, the patient stays at least 24 hours in hospital, to be properly monitored. That is, preventing adverse situations.

Endotine® Forehead Device

One of the technologies we use in our surgeries is the Endotine® Forehead Device. This innovative solution is specifically designed to elevate forehead tissue in Frontal Lifting surgery. Its exclusive structure provides multiple points of contact with the forehead tissue, creating a more even and smoother distribution of the holding force.

Other options, such as screws and sutures, usually provide a point of contact that can rupture the soft tissue, and adversely affect the reliability of the brow lift.

Care after surgery

The patient’s recovery at the postoperative stage after a Frontal Lifting via endoscopy is more straightforward compared to more traditional techniques. Within ten days, most patients can resume their regular activities.

During the first few days, bruises and swelling in the incision area are common. Thus, we recommend the head be kept elevated whenever possible and cold compresses to help reduce swelling. Some patients experience headaches between 24 and 48 hours after surgery. The most visible signs of surgery likely disappear within three weeks and the hair will resume its growth in the subsequent months.

Among the indications, the patient can only wash their hair three days after the surgery and must take care of the dressings according to medical instructions, avoiding makeup for a few days. Patients must avoid physical exertion, such as lowering their heads. Avoiding sun exposure is also critical for scar protection.

In case of pain or discomfort, talk to your physician about pain relievers and anti-inflammatory drugs that can be used.
